My Summer Reading 2024 has come to an end, sadly. Quite an eclectic mix of genres and life events! Gladly, I can report that this was some of the most fruitful reading in recent years. This list checks all my boxes. Five stars to all!

1.DBG LEXIKON: A wonderful treasure I found on a recent trip to Vienna in a “give one, take one” box. I actually read every entry of its 1000 pages. [see post]

2.Literature: An Introduction to Reading and Writing

Simon & Schuster: Handbook for Writers

[Prep for two new courses I am teaching this fall]

3.Joan of Arc by Mark Twain: Prep for my Fall Literature course and because I love both Mark Twain AND French History!! Win, Win, & Win [Baylor University Book Store: Fall ENGL syllabus]

4.The Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyan: Led a Book Discussion for our FBDecatur Ladies; Prep for my Fall Literature course and one of the treasures I found in the Baylor Book Store for  Soph English [currently writing a blog ]

5.First Baptist Church of Dallas: My Library, Reread this after the recent fire that destroyed the sanctuary in which I met Jesus and was baptized by Dr. Criswell in 1976.

6.An Experiment in Criticism: by C.S. Lewis. “Literature exists for the joy of the reader. Books should be judged by the kind of reading they invite”. Another treasure from Baylor University Book Store. Excellent look at literature and how we judge it.
